Brightlingsea’s Mayor for 2024/25 was installed into office at the Council’s Annual Meeting on May 16th. Councillor John Carr takes over from Councillor Ric Morgan for the ensuing year. Councillor Mat Court has been chosen as Deputy Mayor.
The new Mayor addressed fellow Councillors and members of the public and stated that he is looking forward to the year, including modernising Council meetings and liaising with the town’s residents via technology, by means of streaming public meetings, regular surveys and monthly Councillor Surgeries where residents can approach Councillors with their concerns.
John has named the charity he wishes to support as the Brightlingsea Stroke Group, a Brightlingsea organisation that has showcased the unique method of helping residents which our town is really very good at doing.
