Call for Narrators: Promote Brightlingsea

We are creating a video to promote Brightlingsea as a fantastic place to live, work and visit, and we need your help! We want this video to feature as many voices from our community as possible.

If you’re a resident of Brightlingsea, we invite you to send in a short clip of you narrating part of the script. From the submissions, we will select a handful of people to record a final version, which will take about 15-30 minutes per person. We want as many different voices as possible – young, old, male, female, etc. so if you want to have a go, have a go.

Disclaimer: The final video will be distributed digitally and may appear on various platforms. You can choose whether or not to be credited for your contribution. There is no financial compensation for taking part.

How to Participate:

  1. Record yourself (on your phone voice recorder is fine) reading the first part of our script (text below).
  2. Send your recording to the Parish Hall by email at admin@brightlingseatowncouncil.gov.uk.
  3. You have two weeks to send in your clip, with a closing date of 24th June.

Script for Recording: “Welcome to Brightlingsea, the coastal jewel of Essex, where the charm of a Victorian seaside town meets a rich maritime history. A place where each visit feels like discovering a hidden treasure. Stroll through our vibrant high street, where unique shops, cozy cafes, and traditional pubs stand against a backdrop of striking Norman and Victorian architecture. Here, history is not just in the landmarks, but in every corner and conversation. Visit the majestic All Saints’ Church, a beacon of heritage, visible for miles around. Inside, discover the poignant Tiles of Tragedy, a unique memorial to the brave souls lost at sea, etching Brightlingsea’s maritime legacy into the very fabric of the town.”

We look forward to hearing your voices and sharing the charm of Brightlingsea with the world! (OK, maybe more like Essex and Suffolk.)

Best regards,
Brightlingsea Town Council
